Born in the Bronx borough of New York City, Macaulay spent "rough days" at DeWitt Clinton High School, afflicted by overcrowding and ethnic tensions.〔http://people.forbes.com/profile/william-e-macaulay/98210〕 Macaulay graduated with a B.B.A. degree Magna Cum Laude in Economics from City College of New York and an M.B.A. from the The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where he also has served as a member of the Executive Board. Additionally, he currently serves as Chairman on the Board of Directors of the Rogosin Institute and is Chairman of the Advisory Board of the City University of New York. Mr. Macaulay has also received a Doctor of Humane Letters (DHL) honorary degree from Baruch College.
He has two children.
